Stylish & Functional Playroom

Today I sharing with you a project I did for a client this past year.  My client had a 2 year old toddler.  They just moved into their 1st home and they did not want a formal living room.  They wanted to convert it into a play area for their son.  When designing a playroom, especially of it's the front room in your home, you want to try and create a functional, yet stylish space, not just toys thrown everywhere.  They wanted to keep it minimal as far as furniture, however, they wanted to ensure they had plenty of storage to house all the toys.  You will see in the playroom below how we achieved that.

Another room I designed was their family room which was adjacent to the playroom.  They wanted comfort, ample seating but a more masculine space.  I brought in a large leather sectional, rustic nesting tables and an attractive media console to flank the massive TV above.  When using masculine pieces, you want to make sure you soften the area with fabrics and patterns that give a lighter feel to the room.  I achieved this with a transitional area rug and cream and blue accent pill

ws.  I kept the paint also light to contrast with the dark, espresso sectional.

Some artwork is still being delivered for over the bar area.  The family room offers the clients a space where they can entertain family and friends while still being able to keep an eye on their son in next room.

Thanks for reading,

Lisa

  1. I really need to get a big shelf like that for my kids' room... Their "toy storage situation" is slowly getting more and more out of control!
